Lead Manufacturing Engineer (Harness)

LEAD MANFACTURING ENGINEER (HARNESSSING) As the Lead Manufacturing Engineer of Harness production, you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge, experience, and creativity to develop novel solutions to a diverse set of multidisciplinary technical challenges. As the primary liaison between production and design engineering you will be responsible for influencing both teams in an effort to maximize production efficiency while maintaining the highest levels of vehicle reliability. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a team of up to 8 Manufacturing Engineers and technical writers supporting the fabrication and testing of harness assemblies for SpaceX vehicles and spacecraft.
  • Aggressively develop, qualify, and implement large-scale manufacturing process improvements to increase production output and maximize vehicle reliability.
  • Coach and support the technical and professional development of direct reports.
  • Create capital/facility justifications for large projects and manage through implementation.
  • Set and manage objectives for team members that translate to operational results.
  • Create clear division of team responsibilities to foster a culture of ownership and accountability.
  • Ensure all direct reports understand and follow company policies, practices, and procedures through rigorous onboarding and training. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or industrial engineering.
    • 3+ years of manufacturing, fabrication, and/or assembly experience. PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
      • 2+ years of experience leading a team of 3+ individuals either as a project leader or as direct reports.
      • Demonstrated completion of impactful projects in a manufacturing environment.
      • Strong data analysis skills (SQL and/or VBA).
      • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques, processes, and equipment related to harness manufacturing.
      • Experience transitioning development products to rate production.
      • High volume manufacturing experience.
      • Lean manufacturing principles.
      • Automation and controls.
      • Statistical process control. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
        • Must be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed.
