Position: Security Engineer - Design Engineer

Job Description:

The Security Engineer provides expertise and knowledge in low voltage electronic security systems. He/she will estimate, design, track, startup and commission systems requiring greater planning and technical expertise.

They will analyze plans, specification, and contracts to determine system requirements, analyze plans, specifications, and contracts to determine system requirements and selects products, sizes, types, and location placement to ensure products meet specification requirements.

He/she will design a variety of low voltage security systems including video surveillance (CCTV), access control, intrusion detection, video analytics, video management systems, and others which shall consist of system layouts, electrical drawings, bill of materials, and sequence of operations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Designs low voltage security systems and associated network architecture to support the requirements of the contract.
Prepares engineering drawings, cutsheets, and systems submittals.
Able to create drawings CAD, AutoCAD, Revit
Prepares and oversees the integration, installation, and testing of all responsible systems.
Provides on-site assistance with or performs the programming, start-up, checkout, commissioning and validation processes.
Participates in job site final walk-through on assigned jobs, completes all job closeout documentation and provides customer training.
Acts as a technical resource to existing customers and field employees as needed.
Coordinate and manage work with subcontractors.
May be responsible for training lower level engineers and specialists
Must be able to perform all tasks with minimal supervision or coaching

REQUIRED TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate effectively with team members
Strong written communications skills required
Strong organizational skills. Must have the ability to prioritize workload effectively
Familiarity with fiber optic networks
Ability to interpret complex documents
Able to create CAD drawings or lead CAD technicians in changing/evolving designs
Prepare, update, store, understand contract and system design drawings and successfully apply to projects
Should have prior experience with Lenel OnGuard access control.
Should have prior experience with Pivot3 digital storage.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Field Engineers
Trainee Engineers
CAD Administrators
CAD Operators/Engineering Technicians

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

BS (minimum) degree in Electrical, Computer or Electronics Engineering
Typically 1-5 years relevant experience
Thorough knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, Visio, etc.
Thorough knowledge and experience electrical systems.
Experience in rail transportation projects is preferred.
