Overview H&K Group, Inc. , is seeking an auto technician or diesel mechanic technical high school student for part-time cooperative education positions. Excellent pay and benefits Safe and responsible operations Career development opportunities Potential full-time employment at the conclusion of the program Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies Receive oral or written direction from the shop foreman on plans for the day's tasks Reads job order and observes and listens to equipment in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures Assists in the instillation, repair, and preventative maintenance for various equipment and vehicles Assists with all standard maintenance on trucks and equipment and ensures state inspection requirements are met for cars, trucks, and trailers Applies classroom techniques to regularly scheduled maintenance and repair activities Other duties as assigned Required Skills, Education, and Experience Enrollment in an accredited technical high school or technical high school program in auto mechanics, diesel mechanics, or related field Basic math and communication skills Able and willing to work an abbreviated 2nd shift schedule Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job) Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience 1 year completed study in the related technical field Previous co-op or internship experience Physical Demands Frequently required to Stoop, crouch, kneel Use hands to finger, feel, and grasp Occasionally required to Stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, climb, balance, and crawl Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds Work Environment Noise level is loud at times Required to work outdoors in all environments at times H&K Group, Inc. provides complete heavy civil contracting and construction materials solutions with safety, speed, quality, efficiency, and value.
