Job Summary:
We are seeking to employ a Regional Director to plan, coordinate
and deliver psychiatric care to children and adolescents in
behavioral and emotional crisis presenting to the Emergency Medical
Services of Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York (WMC),
Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie, New York
(Mid-Hudson), and HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley in Kingston,
New York (HAHV) (collectively, Regional Hospitals). The Regional
Hospitals are part of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network
(WMCHealth), and the Regional Director will report to the Chief of
Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in WMCHealth's Department of
Psychiatry.
The Regional Director will provide psychiatric care directly to
patients as a consulting physician to the Regional Hospitals'
Emergency Services, and will also supervise and teach residents,
fellows and medical students assigned to Emergency Psychiatry
services. Due to the nature of Emergency Medical Services, the
incumbent may be called on to work with patients who are both
psychiatrically and medically complicated, and treatment will
therefore require collaboration with multiple services including
Pediatric Medicine, Trauma, Burn, Surgery and Oncology, among
others. Psychiatric consultations may be in-person or via
telehealth to any Regional Hospitals.
The Regional Director will be part of a multidisciplinary team
including physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, licensed
mental health counselors, nurses, and patient engagement
specialists in multiple disciplines. Responsibilities will also
include performance management, quality and process improvement as
well as continuous collaboration with clinical leaders in
WMCHealth's Maria Ferrari Children's Hospital and behavioral health
leaders across the WMCHealth network.
In addition to duties as Regional Director, the incumbent may also
be responsible, as scheduled and assigned, to provide Consultation
Liaison Psychiatry services to children, adolescents and adults
admitted for inpatient medical or surgical care. Conversely, the
Regional Director will coordinate any care provided by Consultation
Liaison Psychiatry services to child and adolescent patients in the
Regional Hospitals' Emergency Services.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have completed training in General Psychiatry and
Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and must be board certified in
Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Must possess or be
fully eligible for a New York State medical license.
The successful candidate should also have a track record of
clinical accomplishments working with pediatric and other patients
with serious and persistent mental illness, knowledge and skill
working with substance use disorders, and an interest in advancing
their knowledge and skills in general psychiatry and child and
adolescent psychiatry. Substantive clinical and research experience
in adolescent psychiatry strongly preferred.

children, adolescents and adults as well as comprehensive
outpatient mental health services.
WMC Advanced Physician Services PC (APS) is a subsidiary
professional corporation employing doctors and mid-level clinicians
working in WMCHealth's hospital-based and community-based clinical
programs including at the Regional Hospitals.
