5000 children and families annually, is hiring for an Occupational
Therapist (Registered) in our Campus Programs. ANDRUS---s mission
is to nurture social and emotional well-being in children,
families, and communities by delivering a broad range of vital
services and providing research, training, and innovative program
models that promote the standard of excellence for professional
performance in and beyond our service community. The Occupational
Therapist must possess knowledge of Occupational Therapy theories,
models of practice and principles to provide quality evidence based
Occupational Therapy services. Responsibilities of the Occupational
Therapist include, but are not limited to, the ability to analyze
tasks relative to areas of occupation, performance skills, activity
demands, contexts, and student factors to implement the
intervention plan; ability to recognize occupational performance
deficits in all areas of occupation. The Occupational Therapist
must be skilled in gathering thorough screening and evaluation
data; development and implementation of IEPs to meet the individual
needs of the student and the ability to select, adapt and sequence
relevant occupational and purposeful activities that support
intervention goals; Assess and make recommendations regarding the
use of adaptive equipment as needed and provide written
justification. The Occupational Therapist must be skilled in
effective written and oral communication in order to prepare and
maintain accurate records, progress notes and other required
documentation and clear communication between teachers, teacher---s
assistants, milieu therapists, related services providers,
residential staff, and families. The Occupational Therapist will
work in direct collaboration with the Manager of Occupational
Therapy Services to maintain the integrity and advance the
development of the Orchard School Occupational Therapy Department,
including the optimal usage, safety and proper maintenance of our
sensory rooms. Responsibilities of the Occupational Therapist
include providing direct supervision to COTAs, in-session
observations of COTAs and children, review/signing of
documentation, Evaluations and training to COTAs on fundamentals of
Occupational Therapy intervention and self-regulation within a
trauma responsive framework. The Occupational Therapist is expected
to have initiative and a strong work ethic and to participate
actively as a treatment team member, to collaborate effectively
with the clinical, school, and the residential teams, and to
independently review outcomes and modify intervention programs to
meet our treatment outcome goals. Some additional beneficial
professional skills could include training in attachment-focused
sensory integration approaches, trauma treatment and trauma
informed care, and strong writing and presenting skills.
Requirements also include attending staff meetings, in-service
trainings, and maintaining professional clinical competency and
licensure by New York State and NBCOT. Finally, the Occupational
Therapist will work collaboratively with other disciplines and
departments for continued development and implementation of campus
wide approach that emphasizes self-regulation. The Occupational
Therapist will work closely with ANDRUS staff and families to
develop classrooms and individual interventions that are targeted
to support children---s sensory needs to enable them to learn
better. This is a Full time Role working Monday through Friday,
from 8:30am to 4:30pm. This Position is following the school
schedule which is a 12-month position, 10-month school year and
mandatory six-week summer program. Entry level qualifications:
Successful completion and graduation from an accredited
Occupational Therapy program recognized by NBCOT and completion of
all fieldwork requirements. Master---s Degree or higher preferred.
Certification as an occupational therapist by the National Board
for Certification of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). Current New York
State license as an Occupational Therapist. Three (3) years of
related experience with children, with at least one (1). in setting
serving children who have self-regulation challenges, trauma
histories, or are on the autism spectrum. Strong Oral and Written
Communication Skills. Physical Requirements: Must possess ability
to sit, stand, walk, run, climbs stairs, lifts weights of up to 30
lbs. Have physical capacity to restrain or assist in the restraint
