Overview The Correctional RN will provide comprehensive medical and
mental health nursing care within a secure facility. The role
includes intake assessments, medication administration, ongoing
evaluation, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to
support patient health and safety. Key Responsibilities Assessment
& Screening Obtain medical and mental health history Perform
initial and ongoing physical and mental status examinations Conduct
suicide screening and observation upon intake Establish baseline
health data upon arrival Care Planning & Interventions Facilitate
therapeutic communication Develop individualized nursing care plans
Carry out independent and interdependent nursing interventions
Medication & Treatment Management Administer prescribed medications
and monitor for adverse effects Initiate and maintain IV lines
Provide continuous pain assessment and management Patient Education
& Coordination Educate patients regarding health status and
treatment plans Assist with referrals and transfers Collaborate
with interdisciplinary teams to address personal and physical
