Job:Advisor & Program CoordinatorJob Summary:Reporting to the
Director, Advising and Programs, the Advisor and Program
Coordinator serves as a front-line career advisor for students and
alumnae, building expertise in job documents, interview best
practices, career exploration, and other topics. The individual in
this role will assist in developing and administering programs
related to careers and graduate education for students and
alumnae.Applicants to this position must submit a resume and cover
letter.Job Description:Serve as career advisor for students and
alumnae. Maintain currency with career advising best practices and
trends working closely with the Advising and Programs team;
complete external training and professional development as
appropriate. Assess individual career development needs, advising
students on the skills necessary to pursue their career interests.
Hire, train, and manage team of Peer Career Advisors (PCAs). Serve
as departmental lead for Career Insights program series. Research
potential alumnae speakers for Career Insights panels and other
events; assist in planing and implementation of annual outreach to
alumnae to solicit speakers and volunteers for Beyond Barnard
programs; coordinate logistics for speakers and communicate with
guests on behalf of Beyond Barnard. Provide administrative and
programmatic support for Beyond Barnard's summer initiatives,
including the Summer Research Institute. Advise individuals on
career exploration, using career assessment tools including, but
not limited to, the MBTI and the Strong Interest Inventory.
Administer and interpret individual interest, skills, abilities,
and values assessment instruments to assist students and alumnae
with career identification and decision making. Design and lead
presentations for diverse student, alumnae and campus groups and
audiences. Assist with all major Beyond Barnard events. Represent
the College and Beyond Barnard at specified regional professional
association conferences and professional development workshops.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director to ensure the
success of the center on behalf of the College, its students, and
alumnae.Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:Ability to deal with
multiple stakeholder groups with diplomacy and tactExcellent
organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects and
timelines at onceAbility to work both independently and
collaboratively within a team environment Excellent computer
skills.Ability to build rapport with students, alumnae, faculty,
and employers; excellent interpersonal skillsBachelor's degree
required with 2 years of related experience in higher education,
program administration, or advising. Appreciation of liberal arts
education and interest in career issues of women.Master's degree in
higher education administration, counseling, or related field
preferred.Previous experience advising students
