When you join SA, you play a part in giving every student who walks through the doors of one of our 47 schools in NYC a fair shot at reaching his or her potential.Job DescriptionSuccess Academy's Public Affairs team works to advance K-12 public education reform and policies that support charter schools and student achievement both locally and nationally. Working with our parent communities to engage their elected officials, we advocate to ensure that NYC public charter schools have equitable resources to remain strong and continue to deliver the high-quality education children need to achieve their dreams. We now need a results-driven Lead of Advocacy and External Affairs to join our Public Affairs team.Reporting to the Head of External Affairs, the Lead, Advocacy and External Affairs will lead SA's school based elected engagement and parent advocacy program. -This position manages a small team of grassroots associates and sets the strategy, goals, communications and logistics for all advocacy related initiatives with the overall goal of expanding access to charter schools and parent choice. -Key responsibilities include: -Setting strategy for all advocacy initiatives and managing a small team to execute grassroots elected and community engagement.Ensuring the efficacy and successful implementation of all mobilizations (rallies, press conferences, public hearings and digital action ) and meeting participation goals.Developing inspirational and motivational Advocacy educational and training materials for parents and school/network staff. Responsible for continuous, critical improvements to the program.Managing City and State policy agenda as well as capital allocation strategy and advocacy.A successful applicant will have the following experiences and education:Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree -5-7 years of full-time work experience in advocacy and government relations work.---A successful applicant will have the following traits:Required Traits:Thrive in a fast paced environment -Can prioritize and multitask multiple projects/workstreamsOpen to feedbackExceptional attention to detailEnergetic -Eager to learnInterest in education reform, politicsUnderstanding of NYC political landscape---To join our team, please upload a cover letter and resume that outlines your candidacy.
