traditions from his hometown of Lublin, Poland to his first bakery
in the Bronx. More than 90 years later, his bakery legacy continues
with locations in New York & New Jersey and a growing wholesale
business with customers such as Wholefoods, Kroger, Kings, Harris
Teeter, Big Y and Heinen. After four generations, the Zaro Family
still run the company. Role
To assist the Plant Manager in the daily operations of the bakery.
Primary areas of responsibilities include ‘hands-on' project
management, meeting production goals, creating efficient workflow,
maintaining inventory of finished goods. In addition, it is
important to work with multiple departments to ensure adherence of
Zaro's Family Bakery values, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities (include but not limited to):LEADERSHIP
- Work with the team to provide consistent leadership in
maintaining and or improving the production process, creating a
safe environment, ensuring quality, promoting positive
communication.
- Provide effective direction and coordination of all operational
activities pertaining to production.
- Provide an elevated level of accountability amongst all
positions.
- Contribute to the culture by attracting, retaining, and
developing associates.
- Ability to effectively coach and council associates in areas of
performance and interpersonal behaviors.
- Promote company's mission and vision. support the initiatives
put forth in maintaining a healthy and financially stable
business.
- Lead and assure a safe working environment and compliance with
all EHS and Food Safety Standards
- Operate with simplicity, clarity, and transparency.
- Learn and apply modern technology and share your knowledge with
others.
- Conduct all your activities with reliability, integrity,
compliance and in a safe and efficient mannerPRODUCTION
- Assist in weekly production scheduling through software
(flexibake)
- Plan production shifts allocating labor with production tasks.
Adhere to the plan day of, implement changes to plan and
communicate to crew leaders. Understand how to organize projects,
prioritize, and delegate for maximum output.
- Hands on' floor time includes working on the line, making
rounds, problem solving, training, reporting as needed.
- Printing/distributing proper paperwork for the production
team
- Assist in closing production schedules from the previous
day(s)
- Strong ability to scale recipes to sizeable batch.
- Direct communication with team leaders at critical times
throughout the day to review changes, recap timeline, highlight
success & opportunities.
- Organize, prioritize, and own multiple tasks while meeting or
exceeding deadlinesINVENTORY MANAGEMENT & COST CONTROL
- Lead a zero-loss manufacturing culture focused on continuous
improvement and delivering sustainable performance
- Control cost through reduction of waste, adherence to recipe,
managing labor
- Participate in creating & implementing procedures which would
help to reduce cost
- Maintaining accurate inventory between warehouse and software
(fleixbake) of finished product
- Hight level of ensuring quality- FIFO, first in first out
- Formulate or approve short- and long-term operating objectives
in areas such as cost reduction, quality improvement, new product
development and/or integration as undertaken at the plant
level.
- Essential skills and experience:
- BS and/or and 7+ years related work experience in bakery
manufacturing or related manufacturing industry.
- Experience, training or knowledge of bread, cake and pastry
production preferred.
- Experience with production systems and processes.
- Knowledge and experience in continuous improvement
methodologies, tools, trends, and best practices.
- Proven analytical and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills
with the ability to effectively lead and influence others.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills with the ability to
relay business communications to the plant team members.
- Ability to manage various tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to use tact, judgement, and diplomacy.
- Ability to build strong working relationships.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- Capability and willingness to continue to develop and broaden
an extensive knowledge of relevant areas of expertise.
- Physical requirements and working conditions (with or without
reasonable accommodation):
- Schedule requires availability and willingness to work excess
of 40 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and
Holidays.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that involves
exposure to dust, heat, cold, walking, and ability to climb ladders
and stairs.
